The pilot training has started on 19^th February 2024 and will end on 30 September 2024. 

The MOOC is assesible through https://mooc.smacite.eu/. To access the courses there is need to register to the MOOC and then self-enroll in the courses. You will get the self-enrollment key after you are expressing interest to join the pilot training.

To access the Virtual Worlds there is need to establish a Windows executable at your personal computer. You will get the link to download the Windows executable from your teacher at the MOOC.

Courses on Smart Cities Enabling Technologies

• Smart Cities
• Internet of Things
• Cybersecurity
• Cloud Computing
• Data Analytics and Visualizations
• Machine Learning with Big Data
• 3D Printing
• Blockchain
• Drones
• Autonomous Vehicles

Courses on horizontal skills development:

• Soft skills
• Entrepreneurship skills
• Green skills

The above courses are distinguished to:

• Online courses for Smart Cities Engineers that are addressing the knowledge and skills defined in the “Smart Cities Engineer” job profile that is designed by the SMACITE project.
• Online courses for Smart Cities Technicians that are addressing the knowledge and skills defined in the “Smart Cities Technician” job profile that is designed by the SMACITE project.

It is up to you to make the choice. For example, if you have expressed the interest to attend the online courses Smart Cities and Internet of Things, you can attend the courses for Smart Cities Engineer or Smart Cities Technician.

This diagnostic tool was developed to help you, individual learners, identify your training needs based on your previous knowledge, skills, and competences. Using this diagnostic tool can be a valuable exercise in introspection and can help you take a proactive approach to your own learning and development. It can also be a valuable resource for identifying career paths and job opportunities in Smart Cities. Last but not least, based on your knowledge and skills self-evaluation, the tool will provide you with recommendations on what modules from the courses you might consider skipping or reviewing.

Before starting the course(s) you have selected, it is strongly recommended to go through the diagnostic tool!

Please note that the tool is designed for your information only. In the end of the day, you are the one to decide which courses and their modules to take, regardless of the recommendation given by the tool.

Because the knowledge and skills that the learners acquire through those courses have been defined as marginal for the “Smart Cities Engineer” and “Smart Cities Technician”  job profiles that are designed by the SMACITE project.

For the courses on Smart Cities enabling technologies

• You will receive a certification of attendance upon completion of the full course, given that you achieve 70/100 points at each quiz (you will have 3 attempts), as well as 70/100 points at the project.

For the courses on horizontal skills

• You will receive a certification of attendance upon completion of the full course, given that you achieve 70/100 points at each quiz (you will have 3 attempts) as well as attend at least 50% of online training sessions at the Virtual Worlds.

To be eligible to participate in the online certification exams you should succesfully complete (i.e. get the Certiciation of Completion) the Smart Cities course + 1 additional technical course + 1 course on horizontal skills

2 rounds of online certification exams will be organized:

• One round at the end of July 2024. Those who want to participate in the certification exams in this round should meet the prerequisites described in the previous question till 12 July 2024.
• One second round in October 2024. Those who want to participate in the certification exams in this round should meet the prerequisites described in the previous question till 30 September 2024.
